About this item

  • Electrochemical Applications: anion exchange membranes are key functional materials in electrochemical systems, widely used in alkaline water electrolysis, fuel cells, electrodialysis, and electrochemical CO₂ reduction
  • LB-20 & LB-50 (Non-Reinforced): LB-20 and LB-50 are non-reinforced anion exchange membranes, delivering low ionic resistance, high ion selectivity, and excellent stability in acidic, alkaline, and corrosive environments
  • LB-PK-75 & LB-PK-130 (PK-Reinforced): LB-PK-75 and LB-PK-130 are PK-reinforced anion exchange membranes, featuring low ionic resistance, high ion selectivity, enhanced mechanical strength, and long-term stability in acidic, alkaline, and corrosive conditions
  • Note: the membranes are highly sensitive to humidity and water content. Dimensional deviations of up to ±5 mm may occur due to swelling or shrinkage. Immersion in deionized water can help restore flatness
  • Sizes & Thicknesses: available in multiple thicknesses and standard sizes for laboratory research and industrial use. Custom sizes are available upon request

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • How should anion exchange membranes be stored?

    Dear Customer,

In a dry state, membranes can be stored in a sealed container for over 12 months. For short-term wet storage (hours to weeks), they can be kept in 0.5-1.5 wt% sodium chloride solution or a similar neutral-pH electrolyte. For long-term storage, use a sealed container with the above electrolyte and add a biocide to prevent microbial contamination.

  • Why might the membrane size differ from the nominal cut size?

    Dear Customer,

The membranes are highly sensitive to humidity and water content, which may cause ±5 mm dimensional variations due to swelling or shrinkage. Because of this sensitivity, membranes may appear wrinkled when dry; soaking in deionized water restores them to a flat state.

    Best regards,

    Labasics Team

  • What is the delivery condition and appearance of the membranes?

    Dear Customer,

All anion exchange membranes are delivered in a dry state as brown sheets. LB-50 and LB-20 come with a backing layer that should be carefully separated before use.

    Best regards,

    Labasics Team

  • Is any pre-treatment required before using the membranes?

    Dear Customer,

Pre-treatment is recommended before wet assembly. Membranes can be soaked in deionized water or the intended electrolyte to remove residues and stabilize their dimensions.

    Best regards,

    Labasics Team

  • What is the applicable pH and temperature range for these membranes?

    Dear Customer,

At 25 °C, the membranes are suitable for pH 1 - 14. The recommended operating temperature range is 15-40 °C.

    Best regards,

    Labasics Team

  • What is the difference between reinforced and non-reinforced anion exchange membranes?

    Dear Customer,

LB-PK-75 and LB-PK-130 are PK-reinforced membranes, offering higher mechanical strength and long-term stability. LB-20 and LB-50 are non-reinforced membranes, with lower electrical resistance and high ion selectivity.

    Best regards,

    Labasics Team

  • What is an anion exchange membrane and what are its main applications?

    Dear Customer,

An anion exchange membrane is a functional membrane material that allows the passage of anions while blocking cation migration. It is widely used in alkaline water electrolysis, fuel cells, electrodialysis, desalination, and electrochemical CO₂ reduction.
